Limerick Tutorial College celebrates another year of outstanding Leaving Cert results, but this year the celebrations are two fold as the landmark Limerick school also celebrates 3 decades of Leaving Cert success.

The 2018 school calendar year was a significant one for the O’Halloran family as they commemorate 3 decades since their first leaving cert examination in the school. Still very much a family run school, originally started by John O’Halloran Sr. and his wife Margaret in 1985 as a Tutorial Centre is now run by John O’Halloran Jr and his wife Fiona. Its first Repeat Leaving Cert began with 25 students sitting the exam in June 1988. John Sr. recalls what first led him to offering this progressive and carefully constructed form of education to the mid-west region. – “We had started giving grinds in 1985 and these proved so successful that more and more parents put pressure on us to take full time students and we succumbed to this pressure in the Summer of 1987 and the story of Limerick Tutorial College began”

Throughout the last 30 years there is no denying the fact that the Limerick Tutorial ethos is one that works, with over seven and a half thousand full time students from both Limerick and all its surrounding counties passing through its doors. The continued level of success speaks for itself, with the average repeat leaving cert student gaining between 95 and 110 points on their previous year’s examination. “We will look after you, no matter what your ability, as if you are a member of our own family; we will provide excellent teaching and we will teach you how to study yourself. All of this will bring about a huge improvement in your grades and points. So students should seriously consider repeating if they have not got their first choice” Said John O’Halloran Jr. Principal.
